Cover credits:The artwork on the cover of this month's issue is by one of the winners
of our 1997 Cover Art Contest, 10-year-old Myraida Gonzalez Torres of Jayuya.
Puerto Rico. Myraida was diagnosed with histiocytosis, interstitial
pneumonitis, and hepatic cirrhosis at the age of 5 years. She currently is
receiving chemotherapy for her condition. Myraida’s drawing is about
what she dreams of happening some day—going to Disney with her parents.
Her pediatrician is Milagros M. Salva, MD, of Jayuya, Puerto Rico.
